Today i am going to tell you how to prepare PLAIN RASAM ...


For the rasam powder:

  1. 2 tsp whole black pepper
  2. 2 tsp jeera(cumin)
  3. 2 tsp dhania seeds

For the rasam:

  1. 1.5 cup water from cooked toor dal
  2. 1 marble sized tamarind ball
  3. 2 green chillies(split)
  4. 1-2 tomatoes


  1. keep the dal water aside
  2. roast peppercorns,cumin seeds and dhania seeds in a pan
  3. grind them all in a separately to get a fine powder
  4. in a separate bowl crush the tomatoes and the tamarind ball together and extract the juice
  5. now heat a heavy bottomed vessel and add dal water and bring it to a boil
  6. now add the ground masala powder and the crushed tomatoes along with the juice
  7. let it boil for a while
  8. add salt and garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot

your plain rasam is ready in just 8 steps!!!!...
